Grown Ups 2 – Review

Grown Ups 2.4

I’m so flabbergasted by this movie I don’t even know were to start, it’s that bad. Well I will start with a little back story. When I was in middle school my best buddy Drew had me watch Billy Madison. While I watched the film with him I thought it was funny, so over time I continued to watch Sandler films. That was until 2000’s Little Nicky came out. That’s when I realized that Adam Sandler is not funny. Flash Forward to now Grown Ups 2 is the sequel to 2010’s Grown Ups these films star Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade and Kevin James. Rob Schinder was apperently to good for the to rejoin the cast for this crap film.

Grown Ups 2

I really don’t know what to say about this film. It is unimaginative as Sandler’s first (and God helps us only) sequel. America must be a glutton for punishment because not 30 seconds into the film we see the deer peeing scene from the commercial and the theater I was in erupted into laughter from the hi-jinks. This film suffers through over the top syndrome. Were as the in the first one there was a suspension of disbelief Grown Ups 2 throws all that in the air for stupid jokes like blowing up inflatable rafts in stores, Nick Swardson’s character Nick Hilliard as he urnitates and deficates in a K-Mart and goes unpunished. Jon Lovitz  plays a janitor who goes around gawking and making suggestive comments towards the towns women.  (By the way this character is one of the worst of the movie.) This movie tries to have a story focused around the love of family but when there are so many pee and poo jokes get lost.

Grown Ups 2.3

The worst part about this film is the cast. If you read this casting list you would think this movie had killer potential and somewhere someone had to be funny or interesting…you’d be wrong. But let me read some of the names besides our four main stars. Maria Bello, Selma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, Steve Buscemi, Taylor Lautner, Milo Ventimilgia, Jon Lovitz, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and the list goes on. To go this low to make such crap you really wonder the state of some of these peoples careers. You can really this by the way that Sandler gets half the SNL cast from the 90’s. Unfortunately for Sandler it was the unfunny half.

In the end don’t go see this film in theaters, don’t rent it on Netflix or Redbox, heck I wouldn’t even watch it for free. This movie is a stretch of the imagination and not a good one either. I beg of you do not go and support this drivel. Instead go see Pacific Rim or anything else playing in the box office this weekend.
